Eve Whitaker: Machines & Creaking Carts

Eve Whitaker presents a series of drawings, paintings, and dolls produced while caring for her aging father. “My father used to be an artist but could no longer see, was a potter but his hands had become numb, was a teacher who could no longer remember. We used to figure out new ways to keep him going … another brace, another cart for him to hold onto, new machines … helping him avoid his bed and from that, his final repose. And now he’s gone.”

Touching on some of the attitudes she saw and felt during those years Machines and Creaking Carts continues and expands upon her commitment to the human figure.
