The Cartoon Utopia began in early 2008 as a series of 60 small drawings focused on ideas relating to a futuristic “utopian” world. After attending Alchemical lectures in Los Angeles, the project was expanded to include larger drawings, and longer comics pieces relating to aspects of the the present “consciousness” movement, as well as taking inspiration from older esoteric traditions. Ideas inspired by Theosophy, Gnosticism, andHermetic Alchemy presented in The Cartoon Utopia relate mainly to the basic Alchemical tenet “As Above So Below” and attempt to draw relation between a variety of schools of thought, from the idea of “grand unification” in physics, to the basic concepts of Ying & Yang in eastern religions. Although an ongoing project, work from The Cartoon Utopia will be edited and collected into book form, sometime in the next year. Ron Regé, Jr. began drawing and self publishing his comics in the early 1990s in Cambridge, MA. His first book Skibber Bee~Bye was published by Highwater Books in 2000.
